In this article we will guide you how to install\u00a0ESXi 6.0 Hypervisor on Asus\u00a0z97-Pro and Intel Core i7-4790K.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Server Specification:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Processor:<\/strong> Intel Core i7-4790K 4Ghz, 8MB Cache, LGA1150<\/li>\n<li><strong>Motherboard:<\/strong> AsusZ97 (wIFI-ac)<\/li>\n<li><strong>HardDrive:<\/strong> Samsun XP941 512\/gb M.2 80mm PCIe x4 SSD<\/li>\n<li><strong>Memory:<\/strong> (4 ) HyperX 8GB DDR3 &#8211; 1866 CL10 240 UDIMM<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>1. Before installing ESXi server, first we need to check the hardware compatibility for ESXi Server with the link below.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vmware.com\/resources\/compatibility\/search.php\">http:\/\/www.vmware.com\/resources\/compatibility\/search.php<\/a><\/p>\n<p>2. Next step is to update our motherboard firmware (Asus z97) to the latest released.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note: <\/strong>before updating motherboard firmware make sure your CPU was connected to UPS for security or power interruption purposes.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.asus.com\/ph\/Motherboards\/Z97PRO\/HelpDesk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/www.asus.com\/ph\/Motherboards\/Z97PRO\/HelpDesk\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>3. After updating motherboard firmware, next is to download <em>VSphere Hypervisor,\u00a0<\/em>Create an account and login and Click \u201cDownloads\u201d and search for\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/my.vmware.com\/group\/vmware\/evalcenter?p=free-esxi6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">VMware vSphere Hypervisor 6<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pir8geek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/vmware.png\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-920\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pir8geek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/vmware.png\" alt=\"vmware\" width=\"893\" height=\"699\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After downloading\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/my.vmware.com\/group\/vmware\/evalcenter?p=free-esxi6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">VMware vSphere Hypervisor 6<\/a>, is to customize the ISO in able to work with our hardware<\/p>\n<p>4. (<em><strong>ESXi-Customizer.cmd<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pir8geek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/ExsiCustomizer.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-922\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pir8geek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/ExsiCustomizer.png\" alt=\"ExsiCustomizer\" width=\"774\" height=\"241\" \/><\/a>6.1\u00a0Under \u201cSelect the original VMware ESXi ISO:\u201d click \u201cBrowse\u201d Select the Hypervisor ISO downloaded from VMware.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pir8geek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/ExsiCustomizerISO.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-923\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pir8geek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/ExsiCustomizerISO.png\" alt=\"ExsiCustomizerISO\" width=\"1035\" height=\"838\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>6.2 We need to add net51-drivers\u00a0drivers VIB package into VMWare 6.0 ISO under \u00a0select an OEM.tgz file, a VIB file or an Offline Bundle:\u201d click \u00a0Browse Select the \u201c<strong>net51-drivers-1.0.0-1vft.510.0.0.799733.x86_64.vib<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pir8geek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/ExsiCustomizernet.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-924\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pir8geek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/ExsiCustomizernet.png\" alt=\"ExsiCustomizernet\" width=\"1030\" height=\"597\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>6.3 Under select the working directory Click \u201cBrowse\u201d Select the destination path for the new customized ESXi ISO.In my case i created a folder New Custom ISO 6.0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pir8geek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/ExsiCustomizerfolder.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-925\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pir8geek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/ExsiCustomizerfolder.png\" alt=\"ExsiCustomizerfolder\" width=\"951\" height=\"623\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>7. Next step is we need to add sata-xahci \u00a0drivers VIB package into VMWare 6.0 ISO,\u00a0Under \u201cSelect an OEM.tgz file, a VIB file or an Offline Bundle:\u201d click \u201cBrowse\u201d Select the \u201c<strong>sata-xahci-1.28-1.x86_64.vib<\/strong>\u201d\u00a0otherwise VMWare will not see it as an install-able drive for the m.2 SSD.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pir8geek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/ExsiCustomizersata.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-945\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pir8geek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/ExsiCustomizersata.png\" alt=\"ExsiCustomizersata\" width=\"971\" height=\"607\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>8. Under \u201cSelect the working directory (needs to be on a local NTFS-formatted drive):\u201d Click \u201cBrowse\u201d Select the destination path for the new customized ESXi ISO.<\/p>\n<p>9. \u00a0We are already done with the Hypervisor ISO customization, the next step is to mount the ISO image that we created to\u00a0a USB Flash drive.\u00a0I\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pir8geek.com\/rufus-create-bootable-usb-drives-the-easy-way\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rufus<\/a> for the mounting of the ISO image.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Rufus<\/strong><\/em> is a utility that helps format and create <strong><em>bootable<\/em><\/strong> USB flash drives, such as <em>USB keys\/pendrives, memory sticks,<\/em> etc.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Rufus \u2013 Create Bootable USB Drives the Easy Way\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ZJNX0eFjBCc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>9.\u00a0After mounting the ISO image to USB, Install ESXi 6.0 Hypervisor and reboot<\/p>\n<p>10.
