Ideal for those who want the most out of their desktops, laptops and netbooks and prefer a traditional desktop metaphor. With modest hardware requirements it is suitable for modern workstations and older hardware alike.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pir8geek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/ubuntumate.png\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-759 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pir8geek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/ubuntumate.png\" alt=\"ubuntumate\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThe Ubuntu MATE 14.04 final release is now available for download. This release fixes a few issues that were present in the 14.10 release and adds some additional features.<\/p>\n<h3>What changed since the Ubuntu MATE 14.10 release?<\/h3>\n<p>This release is unusual in that it is based on Ubuntu MATE 14.04 but adds a number of new features and fixes many bugs. Although this is a 14.04 release you can consider it a newer version than 14.10 but many of the changes outlined below have already been released to Ubuntu MATE 14.10 via updates.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Updated the Ambiant-MATE and Radiant-MATE themes with green icons. Thanks to <a href=\"http:\/\/michaeltunnell.com\/\">Michael Tunnell<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Added community contributed wallpaper from <a href=\"https:\/\/plus.google.com\/101077282481991372459\/posts\/RYALQj6Bc32\">Gerard Aalders<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Added missing <code>libnss-mdns<\/code> <a href=\"https:\/\/bugs.launchpad.net\/ubuntu-mate\/+bug\/1380945\">LP #1380945<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Added missing faces pixmaps <a href=\"https:\/\/bugs.launchpad.net\/ubuntu-mate\/+bug\/1385822\">LP #1385822<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Added missing <code>policykit-desktop-priviledges<\/code>.<\/li>\n<li>Added support for Indicators and updated some panel layouts to include indicator enabled variants.<\/li>\n<li>Added <a href=\"https:\/\/bitbucket.org\/flexiondotorg\/mate-menu\">MATE Menu<\/a>, which is a fork of <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/linuxmint\/mintmenu\">MintMenu<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Added <a href=\"https:\/\/bitbucket.org\/flexiondotorg\/mate-tweak\">MATE Tweak<\/a>, which is a fork of <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/linuxmint\/mintdesktop\">MintDesktop<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Enabled the <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~accessibility-dev\/+archive\/ubuntu\/ppa\">Accessibility PPA<\/a> to add Orca 3.14 which improves the accessibility of Firefox.<\/li>\n<li>Enabled screen reader activation via LightDM indicators and LightDM key bindings.<\/li>\n<li>Fixed accessibility keybindings to toggle the Orca screen reader.
