  • How to Install Double Commander 0.6.5 (via PPA) On Ubuntu 15.04 & Ubuntu 14.04

    In this article we will guide you how Install Double Commander  via PPA on Ubuntu and  its derivatives.
    Double Commander (DoubleCMD)
    -is a cross platform open source file manager for Linux Ubuntu. It comes with two panels side by side. It is inspired by Total Commander file manager.
    Features:

    • All operations working in background
    • Multi-rename tool
    • Tabbed interface
    • Custom columns
    • Internal text editor (F4)  with syntax hightlighting
    • Built in file viewer (F3) to view files of in hex, binary or text format
    • Archives are handled like subdirectories. You can easily copy files to and from archives. Supported archive types: ZIP, TAR GZ, TGZ, LZMA and also BZ2, RPM, CPIO, DEB, RAR.
    • Extended  search function with full text search in any files
    • Configurable button bar to start external programs or internal menu commands
    • Total Commander WCX, WDX and WLX plug-ins support
    • File operations logging

    Changes and Updates on Double Commander 0.6.5:

    • Empty variables %Dl and %Dr for the root directory
    • Copying a directory to FTP and it already exists displays “Unknown error” message
    • Add support for PSD (Photoshop) files when viewing files as thumbnails in the file view panels
    • Samba: Copying error

    To install Double Commander 0.6.5 Beta via PPA

    1. Open Terminal and run the following commands:

    For GTK based systems, do:

    sudo apt-get install doublecmd-gtk
    

    For Qt based systems, do:

    sudo apt-get install doublecmd-qt
    

    To uninstall and remove Double CMD file manager f, run the command:

    sudo apt-get remove doublecmd-*
